I specialise purely in employment law and I have wide-ranging experience in both contentious and non-contentious employment issues. When a business needs help with employment law, I provide practical, commercial advice, and support on all employment issues, including: recruitment; disciplinaries and grievances; performance and absence management; terminations; redundancy; restructures; equal opportunities; mergers, transfers, outsourcing and TUPE; contractual disputes; and Settlement Agreements. My clients describe me as being "very personable, knowledgeable and professional".

I also draft template letters and scripts and, if employers need that extra bit of help, I conduct their investigatory, disciplinary, grievance, capability and redundancy meetings on their behalf. For example, I have previously managed a multi-day in-house investigation into allegations of sexual harassment for a local employer with 120+ employees.

I regularly advise employers on contentious employment disputes. I deal with tribunal claims in all areas, including unfair dismissal, discrimination and breach of contract. I also conduct my own advocacy at Employment Tribunals. Lately, I was successful for an employer in setting aside a £22,000 default judgement. I was also recently instructed to act for a large cleaning company in a multi Claimant and multi Respondent TUPE dispute issued in Cardiff Employment Tribunal.

In order to prevent matters from reaching a Tribunal, I also provide businesses with in-house training sessions and workshops on all employment law issues. I have provided recruitment training in Swansea to a national energy company, I have delivered courses on disciplinaries and grievances to several organisations in Pembrokeshire’s energy and care sectors and I have provided employment and HR know-how seminars to organisations in West Wales’ construction and charitable sectors. Recent feedback includes "Several of my colleagues in the Senior Management Team took part in the session and we discussed this morning that it was one of the best training days that we have attended….we were very impressed."

If a business is being sold or acquired, I also assist the corporate department on the employment implications of such deals including due diligence, warranties and indemnities and TUPE consultation procedures.

Having a Masters Degree in Employment Law and Practice I am well equipped to advise businesses on their employment law issues. I also hold a post graduate diploma in Human Resource Management which allows me to provide strategic Human Resource Management advice. I am a member of the Employment Lawyers Association, Association of Women Solicitors, Institute of Leadership and Management, the Equality and Human Rights Commission Network and the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development. Additionally, my research into UK employment law was published in the 2009 and 2012 World Bank Doing Business surveys and I am a mentor with Business Wales.

When I am not working I am spending time with my friends, husband and son. I am also a keen netball player and in 2010 completed the London Marathon.
