Alex has provided specialist employment advice and guidance on all aspects of employment law to public and private sector employers for more than 12 years. He has considerable experience of Employment Tribunal and Employment Appeal Tribunal work on behalf of major companies, both preparing cases and regularly appearing as an advocate. He has had a number of cases reported, including: • GUS Home Shopping Ltd v. Green and McLaughlin [2001] IRLR 75(sex discrimination) • Parkins v. Sodexho Ltd [2002] IRLR 109 (public interest disclosure) • Sodexho Ltd v. Gibbons [2005] IRLR 836 (practice and procedure) He is well known for his expertise on TUPE, especially its application to outsourcing of services, such as catering, cleaning, transport and delivery and facilities management. He has experience of drafting all types of employment contracts, policies and procedures. He prepares and presents briefing sessions to clients on recent employment decisions, legislation and trends in employment law. He has spoken at seminars, on the radio and television and has contributed articles on employment law to several journals. Alex is the head of the Employment & Pensions Group Employee Relations Unit providing thought-leadership on employers' relations with trade unions and employees. Alex is also the editor of the Employment Lawyers' Association monthly employment law journal.
