Michael Foster is a solicitor of the Supreme Court holding a Master of Laws degree in employment law and Principal and Employment Specialist for the firm of Michael Foster Law. He is also an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a Law Society accredited mediator. He was made a partner in the Bexhill firm of Fynmore's in 1980, practicing a wide range of private and commercial law but specialising in litigation and employment until his election as Member of Parliament for Hastings and Rye in 1997. He served as Minister for Equalities until the 2010 Election and helped steer the Equality Bill through Parliament.
He is a Deputy Lieutenant of the County of East Sussex and a Freeman of the Borough of Hastings.
