Michael has advised on employment matters for many years, both in private practice and in a quasi in-house role with a renowned employment consultancy. His experience includes advising on contracts, policies/procedures, the employment aspects of commercial deals, company restructuring and redundancies, disciplinary and grievance hearings, dismissals, discrimination and tribunal and court representation. Michael has also advised on the drafting and enforcement of post-termination restrictions, confidentiality and intellectual property. He has successfully negotiated termination agreements for many senior executives. Michael’s experience has an international flavour, with cross-border expertise; in particular relating to transfer of undertakings and reorganisations. With a background as a litigator and an advocate, Michael has represented clients in all types of tribunal claims; including unfair dismissal, redundancy, sex, race and disability discrimination, whistleblowing and TUPE claims. He has utilised this experience to provide effective advice on mergers and acquisitions, partnership dissolutions, management buy outs, share sales, outsourcing and other transaction based matters. Michael prides himself on providing practical and commercial advice to his clients, with whom he has developed close and effective working relationships over a number of years. Relevant Experience Includes ·advising a global shipping company on the employment consequences of the acquisition of a similar multinational company and the ongoing restructuring/staffing issues. ·advising an insurance company on the outsourcing of its call centre. ·drafting contracts, policies and procedures for a intermediary service company provider. ·representing clients, both employer and employees, on numerous tribunal cases. ·defending a senior employee/director on injunctive relief based on restrictive covenants, confidentiality and intellectual property in the media sector.
